A large Indian Reverse Glass Painting, in authentic. Period, wave incised frame, the much idolised Hindu deity.

One of the more highly gilded , larger examples of the genre. One of the most respected and highly revered Gods in Hinduism and the seventh. Considered to be an ideal man, a maryada purushottam. He has within himself a perfect set of values and virtues, attributes Hindus look both aspire to and look up to.

Rama was the hero of the Ramayana , in which he killed Ravana, the ten-headed king of old Lanka who stole his wife Sita. In this war he was helped by the monkey god Hanuman. Known to be a great warrior and noble king, he was blessed with exceptional qualities and had mastery over the scriptures, the Vedas, and warfare.

This is an example of Indian reverse glass painting at its most detailed , vibrant best , its authentic Art Deco period frame finished in a distressed, wave-incised dark teal colour palette. It's very much in the Indian tradition, in which generation after generation of painters recreate images that have gone before with, no doubt.
