A large Indian Reverse Glass Painting, in a. Period frame, of the much idolised Hindu deity.

One of the more highly detailed , larger examples of the genre. Depicted in this delightfully evocative. Is the highly revered Hindu deity Saraswati, one of the holy trinity , comprising of Saraswati, Lakshmi and Parvati. She is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, art, music, speech, wisdom and learning, and widely credited in mythology with the invention of the ancient language of Sanskrit. Although she is commonly shown with a swan as her vahana , her vehicle , in this rendition of this much idolised god she is seated on a citramekhala , a peacock to you and me, a not uncommon.

This is an example of Indian reverse glass painting at its most detailed , vibrant best , in an authentic Art Deco. It's very much in the Indian tradition, in which generation after generation of painters recreate images that have gone before with, no doubt.
